HISTORY: Pau D'arco, also known as Taheebo, is the inner bark or heartwood of a tropical member of the bignonia family found in South America. Several Tabebuia species have long been used by South American indigenous peoples as a cancer remedy. In Peru, Pau D'arco has been used as a blood purifier and to treat diabetes. Cat’s Claw has also long been used by the indigenous peoples of South America to treat a wide range of ailments and diseases including asthma, digestive upset, wound healing, menstrual problems, urinary tract infections, arthritis and other inflammatory conditions. The common name comes from the curved thorn or "hooks" used by the plant to fasten itself onto supporting plants.
