Lobelia is primarily used for respiratory conditions such as asthma and bronchitis. Lobelia and Lobeline products are often used to treat tobacco addiction since it is chemically similar to nicotine, but without its addictive properties.

INGREDIENTS: Distilled Water, Grain Alcohol, Lobelia. Ratio 1:5.

HISTORY: Lobelia is a hairy annual or biennial, indigenous to western parts of North America. The plant grows from 30-100 cm, or 6-36 in. tall, with pale blue flowers and a milky sap. This herb was used by people of the First Nations primarily for respiratory conditions and as an emetic. It later became popular among the early European settlers. Lobelia was often smoked in a similar fashion to tobacco.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION As with its traditional use, Lobelia is primarily used for respiratory conditions such as asthma and bronchitis. Lobelia and lobeline (a constituent found in lobelia) products are often used in treating tobacco addictions, because lobeline is chemically similar to nicotine.

PROPERTIES: Antispasmodic, diaphoretic, emetic, nervine, expectorant, respiratory stimulant.

DOSAGE: 5 - 60 drops three to four times daily. An overdose is not dangerous, but can cause sweating and nausea.

USES:

  • Bronchial asthma
  • Bronchitis
  • Tobacco addiction
